It was an early start for many when a delegation from the Province, led by Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, headed to London recently for the September meeting of Mark Grand Lodge. He was accompanied on his travels by Worshipful Brother Brett Varker, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother John Clendinning, Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brother Robert Palmer, the Provincial Grand Secretary, together with a host of Grand Officers, including Worshipful Brother Bill Philip, Grand Junior Deacon and Worshipful Brother John Hipwell, Grand Steward.

They were also joined by many Provincial Grand Officers, including Worshipful Brothers Barry Purdy and Robert Hendy, the Provincial Grand Senior and Junior Wardens, and Worshipful Brothers Robert Truesdale and Jon Webber, the Provincial Grand Senior and Junior Overseers.

The main highlight of the meeting was seeing brethren honoured with Promotions in Mark Grand Rank. This year, Devonshire celebrated the promotion of Worshipful Brother Brett Varker to Past Grand Junior Overseer, which also entitled him to the rank of Very Worshipful Brother, along with Worshipful Brother John Betts, who was promoted to Past Grand Junior Deacon.

Following a wonderful meeting, the brethren separated, with some enjoying the surroundings of the Grand Connaught Rooms, whilst others enjoyed a fabulous dining experience at a Bistro in Covent Garden.

After a superb day with excellent company, the brethren made their way back to home shores, content to know that Mark Masonry always brings friends together.
