The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, was amongst a number of brethren enjoying a wonderful day of Golf recently, which kicked off the installation day for the St Andrews Golf Lodge 1370. The brethren all met up at the Daignton Golf Club, where they enjoyed a wonderful round of golf in the company of great friends. They were also joined by some distinguished guests, namely Very Worshipful Brother John Nicholson and Worshipful Brother Graham Jeffrey, who had both travelled from their sister golfing lodge, the St Andrews Mark Lodge 1924, in the Province of Somerset.

Following this fabulous day, the brethren met up in the local town of Ashburton, where they held their Installation meeting. The Provincial Grand Master was accompanied at the meeting by Right Worshipful Brother John Clendinning, Past Deputy Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brothers William Daw and Martin Smith, both Past Grand Junior Overseers, the latter being the Provincial Grand Chaplain, Worshipful Brother John Hipwell, Grand Steward.

They were further joined by Worshipful Brothers Barry Purdy and Robert Hendy, the Provincial Grand Senior Overseers, along with Worshipful Brothers Robert Truesdale and Jon Webber, the Provincial Grand Senior and Junior Overseers, who were all expertly controlled by the Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies, Worshipful Brother Roger Farrow.

The main event of the day was to see the New Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Simon Wills, being installed by the outgoing Worshipful master, Worshipful Brother Christopher Cload. The ceremony was conducted in an exemplary manner, and Worshipful Brother Wills then appointed and invested his officers for the year. Worshipful Brother Wills then undertook the next labour of the evening, which was to ballot for and subsequently welcome a new joining member to the lodge.

Following the meeting, the brethren retired to the dining room where they enjoyed a wonderful Festive board.

  

At a suitable moment during the meal, the Worshipful Master, together with the Provincial Grand Master, undertook the presentation of trophies for the day, including the best player and the player with the longest walk. Congratulations to all who took part during the day, making the matches enjoyable while still keeping that competitive streak.
