The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, joined the brethren of the Exon Lodge of Mark Master Masons 1075 at their recent installation meeting on what was the hottest day so far this year. He was accompanied by Worshipful Brother Brett Varker, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brother Christopher Elliott, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, and Right Worshipful Brother Peter Balsom, the Past Provincial Grand Master, together with a number of Grand Officers, including Very Worshipful Brothers Mike Daniels, Past Grand Senior Overseer and Martin Smith, Past Grand Junior Overseer and the Provincial Grand Chaplain, alongside Worshipful Brother Roger Farrow, the Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies. They were also accompanied by Worshipful Brother David Eldridge, Grand Inner Guard, and Robert Palmer, Grand Steward and Provincial Grand Secretary, on what would be their last night together as active Grand Officers.

They were further joined by a large number of Provincial Grand Lodge Officers, including Worshipful Brother Barry Purdy, the Provincial Grand Senior Warden and Worshipful Brother Robert Hendy, the Provincial Grand Junior Warden, together with Worshipful Brother Robert Truesdale, the Provincial Grand Senior Overseer, and Worshipful Brother Jon Webber, the Provincial Grand Junior Overseer.

  

The lodge was opened in due form, and the Provincial Grand Master and his entourage were welcomed. The Gavel was proffered to the Provincial Grand Master by the Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Adrian Garrity, who is also the Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler of the Order of the Secret Monitor within Devonshire. Donations to the Devon Mark Charity Association, along with other local good causes, were then mentioned.

The Worshipful Master, before conducting the main business of the evening, thanked his officers for the year, including the support from his Immediate Past Master, Worshipful Brother Andrew Yelland, who is also the Inspector General of the Ancient and Accepted Rite within Devonshire. He then went on to conduct the main business of the evening, which was to install his successor into the chair of Adoniram. Worshipful Brother Glenford Bishop was installed as Worshipful Master in a heartfelt manner, and he then went on to appoint and invest his officers.

Following the meeting, the brethren retired from the temple and enjoyed a wonderful festive board in the warm and always friendly atmosphere of the Gandy Street Masonic building.
