The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, travelled to Plymouth to preside at the recent installation meeting of the Plympton Erle Lodge of Mark Master Masons 1100. He was accompanied by Worshipful Brother Brett Varker, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, and Right Worshipful Brother John P. Clendinning, Past Grand Junior Warden and Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master, together with a plethora of Grand Officers, including Worshipful Brothers David Eldridge, Grand Inner Guard and Robert Palmer, Grand Steward and Provincial Grand Secretary, and Worshipful Brother Gilson Rowe, Past Grand Junior Deacon and the Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies.

They were further joined by a good number of Provincial Grand Lodge Officers, including Worshipful Brother Barry Purdy, the Provincial Grand Senior Warden and Worshipful Brother Robert Hendy, the Provincial Grand Junior Warden, together with Worshipful Brother  Robert Truesdale, the Provincial Grand Senior Overseer and Worshipful Brother Jon Webber, the Provincial Grand Junior Overseer.

The lodge was opened in due form, and the Provincial Grand Master and his team were welcomed into the lodge by the Worshipful Commander, Worshipful Brother Mark Newcombe. After being presented with a charitable donation for the Devon Mark Charity Association, he went on to commence the main business of the evening, that of installing his successor.

Worshipful Brother Mark installed Worshipful Brother David Wilkinson into the chair of Adoniram, in an immaculate manner, which also included the presentation of the Working Tools and the Collarettes, undertaken by two of the newer brethren within the lodge in the same immaculate fashion. The new Master then appointed and invested his officers for the year.

  

Following the meeting, the 47 brethren present joined together in the refectory for an excellent festive board. The new Worshipful Master thanked the brethren for attending during a very heartfelt and personal response to his toast, and thanked the brethren for their support during recent years. The atmosphere throughout the evening was warm, with much laughter and happiness, as the brethren enjoyed their time together, meeting old friends whilst forging new ones.
