The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, joined the brethren of the Metham Mark Lodge 96 in Plymouth recently for their installation meeting. He was accompanied on this occasion by Worshipful Brother Christopher Elliott, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brother David Eldridge, the Grand Inner Guard and Worshipful Brother Robert Palmer, Grand Steward and the Provincial Grand Secretary.

They were joined by a plethora of Grand and Provincial Grand Lodge Officers including Worshipful Brother Barry Purdy, Provincial Grand Senior Warden, Worshipful Brother Robert Hendy, Provincial Grand Junior Warden, Worshipful Brother Andrew Hall, Provincial Grand Master Overseer and Worshipful Brother Jon Webber, Provincial Grand Junior Overseer and the Provincial Assistant Grand Secretary.

The lodge was opened by Worshipful Brother Robert Gordon, Past Assistant Grand Standard Bearer, who was standing in as the Worshipful Master due to unforeseen circumstances. The Provincial Grand Master was welcomed along with his supporting team, and the visitors to this fine lodge, which has been continuously working for 159 years. The Provincial Grand Master congratulated all of them for working through the recent hardships of membership and highlighting the positivity of the lodge as it continues to grow.

The main business of the evening was to see the installation of the new Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother David Steel. The ceremony, which was also conducted by Worshipful Brother Robert Gordon, was undertaken in an excellent fashion, and Worshipful Brother Steel was subsequently installed in a very sincere manner. He then went on to appoint and invest his officers.

Following the meeting, the brethren retired to the refectory, where they enjoyed a wonderful festive board. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and full of fun and laughter, showing the Degree of Mark Master Masons at its best.
