The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, was the Presiding Officer at the recent Installation meeting of the Lewis Mark Lodge 1284, held at the Masonic temple in St Marychurch, Torquay. He was accompanied on this occasion by Worshipful Brother Christopher Elliott, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, and Right Worshipful Brother John P. Clendinning, Past Grand Junior Warden and the Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master. Joining them were Very Worshipful Brother David Lee, Past Grand Senior Overseer, Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brother Ron Smerdon, Past Grand Junior Overseer, and Very Worshipful Brother Martin Smith, Past Grand Junior Overseer and the Provincial Grand Chaplain.

Accompanying them were a host of Grand and Provincial Grand Officers including Worshipful Brother David Eldridge, Grand Inner Guard, Worshipful Brother Robert Palmer, Grand Steward and Provincial Grand Secretary, Worshipful Brother Barry Purdy, Provincial Grand Senior Warden, Worshipful Brother Robert Hendy, Provincial Grand Junior Warden, Worshipful Brother Robert Truesdale, Provincial Grand Senior Overseer and Worshipful Brother Jon Webber, the Provincial Grand Junior Overseer and Assistant Provincial Grand Secretary.

After the meeting was opened, the brethren took time to remember the late Pro Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother John Prizeman before continuing with the main business of the evening.

Worshipful Brother Phillip Allwood, the Worshipful Master went on to perform an excellent installation ceremony and installed his successor, Worshipful Brother Colin McVicker, in an excellent manner. The newly installed Worshipful Master then went on to appoint and invest his team of officers.

The Assistant Provincial Grand Master was then invited to present two Grand Lodge certificates to recent advances, which he undertook in his usual eloquent style with his excellent description of the meaning and symbols contained within it.

Following the meeting, the brethren retired to the nearby Waddling Duck Restaurant, where more than 70 brethren enjoyed a wonderful festive board. The atmosphere was filled with fun, enjoyment and laughter, which typifies all aspects of the Mark Degree. During the festive board, the Provincial Grand Master, whilst responding to his toast made an announcement regarding forthcoming appointments of the Provincial Grand Warden, whilst thanking all members of his current Provincial team for the support they are continuing to give during the current year across all areas of the Province.
