The Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brother John P. Clendinning, joined the brethren of the Hawton 100 Mark lodge for their recent meeting, on one of the hottest nights of the year. Accompanying him were a host of prestigious members of the Province, namely Right Worshipful Brother Peter Hawken MBE, Past Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brother Bill Humphries, Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master, and Very Worshipful Brother Bill Daw, the Worshipful Master of the Grand Stewards Lodge, together with Worshipful Brother Robert Palmer, one of this years active Grand Stewards.

Also present were Worshipful Brother Peter Keaty, the Worshipful Master and Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master for the Craft, along with Worshipful Brother Andrew Vodden MBE, the second Provincial Grand Principle of the Royal Arch within Devonshire.

The highlight of the evening was to see their newest candidate, Brother Jonathan Betts, being advanced into the wonderful degree of Mark Masonry. The ceremony was undertaken in the usual impeccable style by the brethren of the lodge. It was made even more special as the Worshipful Master and the lodge had allowed Worshipful Brother John Betts, Past Grand Steward, and the candidate’s father, to deliver the obligation to his son.

The subsequent atmosphere at the festive board was lovely, and the room full of warmth and friendship, which is familiar at all our meetings.
