The Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brother John P. Clendinning, joined the brethren of the Hawton 100 Mark Lodge recently, not only to present certificates, but to witness some excellent lectures on the degree, and see how well the lodge was at supporting local charities. Joining him for the evening was Right Worshipful Brother Peter Hawken MBE, Past Provincial Grand Master, who is a member of the lodge.

The lodge was opened in due form by the Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Peter Keaty who, after completing the normal business, then invited the Deputy Provincial Grand Master to present two Grand Lodge Certificates to some recently advanced brethren, namely Brothers Corey Reading and Michael Hughes.

The next item on the agenda was to receive a talk and recruitment lecture on the Ancient and Honourable Fraternity of Royal Ark Mariners. The lecture, which was given by Worshipful Brother Bill Philip (known locally as the Admiral), was very informative and enlightening. There was keen interest from some of the brethren present, who are always supported by the Worshipful Master, with him being a keen member of the Royal Ark Mariners himself.

To follow on from this presentation, was Worshipful Brother Chris Cload, who then, in his flawless and eloquent style, gave the lecture on the Mark degree. The lecture, although focusing on the origins and story of the degree for the benefit of the newer members, also provides some interest and refreshing knowledge for those longer serving brethren.

After the input of these brethren, the lodge then agreed a charitable donation of £250 to be given to the Erme Primary School to help them purchase new equipment. The lodge was then closed, and the brethren retired to the refectory to enjoy a harmonious festive board, and an opportunity for the Worshipful Master to catch up with his distinguished friends.
