The Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brother John P. Clendinning, travelled to the Fidelity Huish Mark Lodge 91 in Oreston, Plymouth recently to present a special certificate to one of their brethren.

The main business of the meeting was to celebrate the 50 years of service to the degree of Mark Masonry by Worshipful Brother Les MacFarlane. The Deputy Provincial Grand Master was joined at the meeting by Worshipful Brother Chris Elliott, the Provincial Grand Secretary, who eloquently read the certificate and citation, before the Deputy said a few words about Les and his masonic career.

Worshipful Brother Les was advanced into the Fidelity Huish Mark Lodge 91 on the 28th January 1975, and after progressing through the offices, became the Worshipful master in November 1988. He received his first appointment to Provincial Grand Steward in 1992, and after further appointments to Past Provincial Grand Senior Deacon and then to Past Provincial Grand Senior Overseer, he was rewarded for his service with promotion to Past Provincial Grand Junior Warden in 2002.

Not just content with this lodge alone, in April 1995 he was elevated into the Hawton 100 Lodge of the Ancient and Honourable Fraternity of Royal Ark Mariners, and later that same year became a founder member of the Devonshire Lodge of Installed Mark Masters 1750.

In 2005, Worshipful Brother Les became the Commander of Hawton 100, and in 2006 became a member of the Devonshire Lodge of Installed Commanders 1750. He was further rewarded for his service by being promoted to Provincial Royal Ark Grand Rank 2016. To date, Les has remained an active member of all 4 lodges and enjoys the friendship and harmony within the degree, whilst supporting those who are progressing through their masonic journey.
