The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, attended the recent installation ceremony at the St John’s Lodge of Mark Master Masons 1029 in Torquay. He was accompanied on this occasion by a host of Grand officers including Worshipful Brother Christopher Elliott, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brother Martin Smith, the Provincial Chaplain, Worshipful Brother David Eldridge, the Grand Inner Guard and Worshipful Brother Robert Palmer, Grand Steward and the Provincial Grand Secretary. They were further joined by a number of Provincial Grand Officers, present and past, including both Provincial Grand Wardens, namely Worshipful Brother’s Barry Purdy and Robert Hendy, together with Worshipful Brother’s Andrew Hall, the Provincial Grand Master Overseer and Jon Webber, the Provincial Grand Junior Overseer.

The main labour of the evening was to see the installation of the Worshipful Master. Worshipful Brother Lenny Varnham, who has been the Worshipful Master for the past 2 years, welcomed more than thirty brethren to the meeting, and thanked them for their support during his time in office. He installed his successor, Worshipful Brother Jim Mills, in a heartfelt manner, who then went on to appoint and invest his officers for the evening.  

  

Following the meeting, the brethren retired to the refectory, where they enjoyed an excellent festive board, with the comradery, humour and enjoyment that befits all meetings within the degree of Mark Master Masons.
