The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David C. Purdie was joined by a host of Grand and Provincial Grand Officers at the first Installation outing of the new Provincial Year. Joining him on this occasion were Very Worshipful Brother Bill Humphreys, Past Deputy Provincial Grand Master and Grand Master Overseer, and Worshipful Brother Paul Howard-Baker Grand Senior Deacon.
The lodge was opened by the Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Paul Jones, who after receiving the Provincial party, went on to Present the Provincial Grand Master with a cheque for £400 to be presented to the Devon Mark Charity Association.
The next item of business was the installation of his successor, Worshipful Brother John Orr. The ceremony which, with the excellent assistance of his officers, was undertaken in fine form with the new Master going on to invest his team for the year. The address to the Wardens, undertaken by Worshipful Brother Garry Kitchen, to the Overseers, by Worshipful Brother Nigel Frude, and the brethren, by Very Worshipful Brother Bill Humphreys, were all taken undertaken with due reverence and sincerity. The Worshipful Master then went on to present a further cheque to the Provincial Grand Master for inclusion in the PGM’s special fund.
The next item of business was to present a Grand Lodge certificate to Brother Andrew Welland, their most recent candidate, and was undertaken in the usual excellent manner by the Provincial Grand Master.
Following the meeting the brethren retired to the refectory for a wonderful festive board, which was enjoyed by all.
