The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, was joined by a large number of active officers at the installation ceremony at the Devon Lodge of Mark Master Masons 215, which was the last one taking place within the Province, before the Annual Provincial meeting. Amongst the brethren joining him were the Provincial Grand Junior Warden, all three Provincial Overseers, the three Provincial Secretaries and two of the active Grand Officers.

After being welcomed into the lodge, the Provincial Grand Master was presented with a substantial charitable cheque by the Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Don Johans.

 

Worshipful Brother Johans, assisted by Worshipful Brother Ian Adams, then went on to install Brother Stuart Beck into the chair of Adoniram in a heartfelt ceremony.

After the new master had installed his team of officers for the year, he not only invited the Provincial Grand Master to present a Past Masters jewel to Worshipful Brother Johans, but then presented him with another substantial charitable cheque. This was a credit not only to the work of the lodges Charity Steward, but also to the brethren of the lodge who continued to give generously during the external pressures of daily life.

Before retiring to the refectory, Right Worshipful Brother Purdie sprung a surprise onto one of the brethren of the lodge.

Brother Ken Milton, who was Advanced into the lodge in December 2006 at the age of 71, and although supporting the brethren of the lodge ever since, has never progressed to become Worshipful Master. The Provincial Grand Master had recognised this dedication to the Devon Lodge of Mark Master Masons 215, and then proceeded to appoint him as a Past Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies as a field promotion. This appointment was met with a rousing round of acclamation.

 

   

The meeting then closed and the brethren retired to a packed refectory to enjoy the company of their friends one more time.
