The Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David C. Purdie, was joined by many others at Hawton 100 Mark Lodge to help celebrate the 50 year anniversary of Worshipful Brother Len Cooper, P.Prov.G.J.W.

The brethren opened the lodge in due form, and then commenced the evenings business by undertaking the ceremony of advancement of a new brother into the order, which was done in an excellent manner. This was followed by the Provincial Grand Master narrating a short history about Len, and his masonic journey to the brethren, before presenting him with his 50 year certificate.

Len was advanced in Hawton 100 Mark Lodge on 16th January 1974, and was installed as the Worshipful Master in 1984. His connections with the lodge are deep rooted in his family, with his Grandfather who was his proposer, being the Master of the lodge in 1958, and his Great Grandfather being the Master in 1902. Having held many offices and provincial ranks over the years, he was promoted to Past Provincial Grand Junior Warden in 2014. He was also awarded Provincial Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank in October 2023. Len still undertakes pieces of ritual in the lodge today and is always a role model for the brethren within the lodge. Congratulations to Len from all the brethren within the province.

Following the meeting, the brethren moved to the refectory, where a "Burns Night" meal was served in the traditional way, with the pipes, the address to the Haggis, and the dram to toast it. A wonderful way to finish such a great day for all present
