A wonderful Sesquicentennial meeting was held in the Mount Edgcumbe Masonic Hall in Plymouth, on Tuesday 16th January 2024 to celebrate the 150th birthday of the Elliott Lodge of Mark Master Masons 169, with more than 70 brethren attending
After the lodge was opened in due form, our Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, along with his executive and a number of active officers took their places within the temple. The Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Paul Weston, handed the gavel to the PGM who then took the chair of Adonirum. The PGM then gave a short address to the brethren present.
The Pro Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother John Herbert Prizeman was then welcomed into the temple to rapturous acclamation, and he subsequently took the chair of Adonirum for the ceremony.
The reading of the ancient warrant was undertaken in a very fluent style by the Provincial Grand Secretary, Worshipful Brother Christopher Elliott, followed by a short narration of the history of the Elliott Lodge, ablely undertaken by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brother John P. Clendinning. The centenary warrant was then eloquently read by the Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, Worshipful Brother Gary Allen, which he then handed to the Pro Grand Master for presentation to the Worshipful Master. The ceremony was completed by a wonderful oration undertaken by the Provincial Chaplin, Worshipful Brother Martin Smith.
The Pro Grand Master also took the opportunity, during the ceremony, to invite each member of the Elliott Lodge who were present to the pedestal, and congratulate them individually on this special evening by presenting them with their Sesquicentennial jewel. A wonderful moment for all of the brethren.
The lodge was then closed in due form, and the brethren retired to the refectory for an excellent Festive board.
Congratulations to W. Bro. Paul Weston, together with his officers, and all the other brethren involved in organising this wonderful evening.
