Over the weekend of January 27th and 28th of January, the province held its centenary celebration weekend at the Grand Hotel in Torquay. It was a fabulous event with so many brethren together their wives, partners, families and friends attending and re-kindling the bonds friendships and enjoyment.
The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master paid tribute to Worshipful Brother Brett Varker, our Assistant Provincial Grand Master, for organising the event.
The Friday evening consisted of a short presentation by W/Bro Varker on the Devon Mark Charity Association, the ways in which the province had donated to the many good causes including some very heart-warming stories amongst them. It was also reported that the DMCA had donated in excess of £100,000 to these good causes.
The presentation was then followed by the Centenary Celebration Dinner where more than 200 people enjoyed a wonderful meal, and the evening concluded in fine form with an evening of music and comedy.
On the Saturday some brethren made use of the lovely location to go for a walk or to visit friends who lived nearby, whilst some remained in the hotel and enjoyed the pre-organised activities.
THE QUIZ
After breakfast, teams of 4 were invited to participate in a fun quiz which was being hosted by the one and only quizmaster extraordinaire W/Bro Brett Varker. The questions covered numerous subjects including geography, food and drink, art, music and general knowledge. The quiz was well attended and the eventual winners were Ron Smerdon, Jon Webber and their respective wives. For their efforts they were rewarded with the spam trophy,
DANCING LESSONS
During the afternoon, it was pleasant to see so many brethren and their partners attending the dancing lessons, undertaken by Wendy Richards and her colleague Tina. The dances ranged from Classical to Modern, and it was clear that many brethren had not lost their skills at dancing.

GALA DINNER
The weekend culminated in a truly outstanding Gala Dinner, enabling guests to put on their best formal wear and impress the ladies, or even the ladies impressing the men.
