The troop from Devonshire led by the Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro. David Purdie supported by the Deputy PGM V.W.Bro. John Clendinning and the Assistant PGM W.Bro. Brett Varker and a contingent of Mariners including recipients W.Bros. Malcolm Henson, William M Philip and Nic White assembled in good time after their various journeys for a brief refreshment and warm up in the coffee shop at GQS. It was also a delight to be able to meet with friends from around the country.
The ceremony was under the management of the Pro Grand Master M.W.Bro. John Prizeman who entered the temple in due form, the spectacle of all the rainbow colours perfectly set off in the grand temple. It truly was a fabulous picture to impress on the mind of all the recipients.
After the welcome to the overseas and VIP's, the usual business was dispatched with efficiency and the odd quip from the Grand Secretary R.W.Bro. Ryan Williams to the Pro Grand Master which raised a laugh or two.
The recipients were mustered and led to the front in form and invested by the Pro Grand Master with their collars and words of encouragement.
After the meeting closed we all departed for the Connaught Rooms for a spectacular festive board, again in superb surroundings. Wine was taken, and speeches, without notes, were given and received by those present.
A scramble to leave and get to Paddington for the return journey. Messages and texts were sent up and down the train as to the progress of the refreshments trolley. All arriving home safely we think....
