This event saw Bro. Simon Rowe, the first Advancee in the Lodge, attain the Chair of Adoniram.  The Lodge had been reformed by R.W.Bro. Peter Balsom as a central point for the senior members and heads of orders to meet and had for many years relied on past masters to fill offices. Those senior members of other orders who have not been Advanced into the Magic of the Mark degree were invited to join and many did so with Bro. Simon Rowe leading the field.

In an exemplary ceremony led by the W.M. W.Bro. Richard Thomas, Bro. Simon became Worshipful Brother and in an equally exemplary ceremony, he invested his officers with great sincerity. The assembly included many dignitaries from the Mark Degree, Craft, Holy Royal Arch, Knights Templar, Knights Templar Priests and other progressive orders including the Provincial Grand Master for Bristol, the Provincial Grand Master Designate, V.W.Bro. David Purdie, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master Designate, V.W.Bro. John Clendinning and the Assistant Provincial Grand Master Designate W.Bro. Brett Varker. It was acknowledged that this was R.W.Bro. Peter's last appearance before going into purdah.

At the Festive Board, further acknowledgement of the contribution made by R.W.Bro. Peter during his years as Deputy Provincial Grand Master and subsequently Provincial Grand Master and, despite his request taht no fuss be made (ignored by all) presentations were made to him by V.W.Bro. David Purdie. In his response to the presentations R.W.Bro. Peter reiterated his message to us all (in all orders) that we must attend to recruitment and retention in the Mark and Royal Ark Mariner degrees but emphatically we all must support and recruit to the Craft and Royal Arch in the first instance because that is where all our masonic journeys begin. He was given a standing ovation!
