On a hot and balmy evening, the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother David Charles Purdie, joined more than 40 brethren in Ashburton to preside at the recent installation meeting of the Ashburton Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners 1038. He was accompanied on this occasion by several holders of Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank, including Worshipful Brother Brett Varker, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master and Presiding Officer, Worshipful Brother Christopher Elliott, the Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brothers John P. Clendinning and David Lee, both Past Deputy Provincial Grand Masters, together with Worshipful Brother Robert Palmer, the Provincial Grand Secretary.

The installation ceremony was carried out by the Worshipful Commander, Worshipful Brother Brian Elms, who installed his successor, Worshipful Brother Robert Hendy, in an excellent fashion. The new Commander then went on to appoint and invest his crew for the forthcoming year.

Following the meeting, the brethren travelled to the nearby Dartmoor Lodge, where they enjoyed an excellent festive board full of laughter and enjoyment, befitting this wonderful degree.
