pgm letter 6 8 2022To the Mark Master Masons of Devonshire
6 August 2022.

Dear Mark Master Mason,

After six very happy years as the Provincial Grand Master of this fine Mark Province and seven years as Deputy PGM, I am retiring on 30 September 2022.

I am delighted to say that the new Provincial Grand Master will be my Deputy, V W Bro David Purdie and I know that you will all give him the same tremendous support that you have afforded me. He will be installed at Torquay on 1 October 2022, full details to follow.

David has worked closely with me since 2016, particularly with the Devon Mark Support Team and I think the results of all that hard work are to be seen in the respect shown to the Mark Degree in this Province. He was also involved in all the communication to Brethren during the lockdowns, which again has seen the reputation of the Mark Degree in this Province enhanced, as we were seen to be doing something.

In the coming months all Freemasonry, together with other areas of Society, will be severely challenged and I know that David has strong views on Re-invigoration, Retention and Recruitment and will build on the reputation built up by the Mark Degree in Devonshire in recent years.

Please do all you can to support him by spreading the word on the Mark Degree to your friends in the Craft and to others who are not yet Freemasons by talking to them and by referring them to the video “The Magic of the Mark” by visiting https://bit.ly/MagicOfTheMark.

I shall serve the usual period of ‘purdah’ and thus not attend any Mark or Royal Ark Mariner Events for 12 months from 1 October 2022 but I wish you all well and thank you for your friendship and support over the many years I have been involved in this wonderful Mark Province.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Balsom
