David is no stranger to helping out in the community, he is involved in many other voluntary projects,  David said "the community is so important to me and knowing there are so many people alone and vulnerable, I felt I had to do something" David is also a local councillor and has served as the Town’s Mayor.

With a band of volunteer drivers,  they are delivering “free of charge” over 100 meals and it’s only in its second week! David said, "I know the numbers will increase as we go forward.   With the tremendous help of  David Purdie, Brian Tucker and the Teignmouth Masons,  who  have provided me, with the use of the Lodge’s  kitchen facilities, we will be able to cope with more meals if required"

David Matthews has received charitable donations for this project and The Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Degree R W Bro Peter Balsom has agreed to support this initiative with a donation from (DMCA) The Devon Mark Charity Association.
