The Consecration took place on 11th September 1918 at the Masonic Hall, Devon Square, Newton Abbot.  In celebration a Centenary Meeting and Celebration was held on Thursday 27th September at The Redcliff Hotel, Paignton, Devon and was attended by over 100 Brethren including many distinguished guests.

For this Centenary Year V.W.Bro. Jeffrey Attwood is in the Chair and opened the meeting at 5pm to which a dispensation was read by the secretary, W.Bro. Jim A. Evans. Once opened under the direction of the V.W.Bro. Ron Smerdon, Provincial Grand DC, R.W.Bro. Peter Balsom, Provincial Grand Master demanded admission accompanied by V.W.Bro. William S. Humphries, Deputy Grand Master; W.Bro. David Purdie, Assistant Provincial Grand Master; The Provincial Wardens; The Provincial Overseers; Grand Officers and Active Provincial Grand Officers of the Province.

Before the Worshipful Master proffered his gavel to the Provincial Grand Master he presented to the WM and Pleiades Lodge a Gold Diamond Award collaret from the Mark Benevolent Fund for the donations to the fund by the Lodge. The Worshipful Master presented a cheque to the DMCA for £675.00 the number of the Lodge, after which he accepted the gavel and took the Chair of Pleiades to continue the meeting. The Provincial Grand DC placed the Provincial team in their respective chairs before proceeding. The Provincial Grand Master then spoke briefly on what was going on in the world in 1918 and how even during times of war there was time to consecrate a new Mark Lodge.

At this point R.W.Bro. John H. Prizeman, Deputy Grand Master carrying the Centenary Warrant demanded admission and was escorted in under the direction of W.Bro. J. Vause, Grand DC and other officers of Grand Lodge. R.W.Bro. Peter Balsom PGM then proffered the gavel to the DeptGM to which he accepted and took the chair. The DeputyGM was the saluted with 9 under the direction of the DeptGDC. The Dept Grand Master addressed the brethren and as part of his address he conveyed how much he enjoyed the hospitality of Devonshire Masons and congratulated the lodge for all they had done in being part of its continuous working for the past 100 years.

The DeptGM then called upon the DeptGDC to read the Centenary Warrant 24th July 1918 which he then presented to the Worshipful Master and invited him to take his chair again. Before resuming his seat he asked that W.Bro Alistair Duncan be brought to him to be invested with his collar and jewel as Past Senior Grand Deacon as he was unable to make the Investiture at London.

The Provincial Grand Secretary then read the Patent which was then presented to the WM by the Provincial Grand Master. An Oration by the Provincial Grand Chaplain, W.Bro. Martin Smith PGJD was given followed by a Prayer of Dedication. The Brethren of Pleiades Lodge No. 675 then assembled and were all presented with a Centennial Jewel and token by the Deputy Grand Master before retiring from the Lodge.

The business of the evening then continued with the reports from the Almoner, Charity Steward and Worshipful Master. After the 2nd rising the Provincial Grand Master and the Provincial party retired from the meeting under the direction of the Provincial DC and Lodge DC. After the 3rd and 4th rising the lodge was closed and everyone retired to the hotel dining room for the festive board which consisted of Chef’s Home-made Chicken Liver Pate, with a Plum & Apple Chutney and Toasted Brioche; Roast Loin of Pork, Sage and Onion Seasoning with Apple and Cider Jus, Chateau Potatoes, Cauliflower Mornay and Glazed Carrot Batons; Chocolate and Whisky Roulade with Fruits of the Forrest Coulis; Coffee and Mints.

At the festive Board everyone was given the history of Pleiades Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 675 and a Certificate of welcome to the Centennial Celebration Meeting and Festive Board. As part of the toasts the Deputy Grand Master responded to his toast by explaining some of the initiatives of Grand Mark lodge including a new improved web site  , The St John Ambulance 2020 festival and MBF  , on thanking the Lodge for their gifts and hospitality he congratulated everyone who had put the whole event on and wished them success in the future encouraging brethren to progress into other orders as their circumstances will allow them.

The Worshipful Master on responding to his toast thanked everyone involved in putting the day together including W.Bro. Rex Brown for designing and putting together the special Tokens; Torbay Lodge and Provincial Grand Lodge for the use of their fixtures and furnishings; W.Bro. D. Page PGStdB, W.Bro. A. Duncan PGSD and Lodge Secretary, W.Bro. Jim A. Evans for the Lodge History. He finally thanked the Deputy Grand Master for all his kind words and for taking time out of a busy life to support Pleiades Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 675 and explained that the lodge was in good stead for the future with new candidates for the coming year. We indeed all congratulate Pleiades Lodge of Mark Master Masons No.675 on celebrating 100 years.
