Uffculme Masonic HallThere has been a considerable amount of preparation work by the Trustees at Uffculme Masonic Hall and others as to the formation of a Mark Lodge to be held there. The Hall is in an excellent location, close to the M5, with car parking and has had considerable re-furbishment.

A strong Masonic Base exists at Uffculme with five Craft Lodges and two Holy Royal Arch Chapters but above all there is an enthusiasm for a Mark Lodge.

It is hoped that the Lodge will be named “Uffculme Corner Stone Mark” thus referring to the town and the local quarry industry.

Meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of February, April and October and the second Thursday of December.

There are a number of Founders already and some offices filled by volunteers. This would be the first Mark Lodge to be formed in Devonshire since 1995 and thus provides a unique opportunity for a Mark Master Mason to be a Founder of a Mark Lodge.

I hope that Mark Master Masons in Devonshire and Somerset will support this venture and that some will wish to be a Founder and join the Province in this exciting project.

Alan Dummett is co-ordinating the formation and can be contacted at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please read this letter at the next meeting of your Lodge or distribute to your members and encourage them to become a Founder. The next meeting of Founders will be held on 14 December at Uffculme at 7.00 pm.

Yours sincerely,

R.W. Bro Peter J Balsom - Provincial Grand Master
